§ 2-31. Terms of office.

  • (a)

    President. The office of president of the village shall be for a term of four years commencing with the general election to be held on the first Tuesday in November, 2006. The term of the office of president begins on November 20 in the year elected, after the president's election and qualification.

    (b)

    Clerk. The office of clerk of the village shall be for a term of four years commencing with the general election to be held on the first Tuesday in November, 2006. The term of the office of clerk begins on November 20 in the year elected, after the clerk's election and qualification.

    (c)

    Treasurer. The office of treasurer of the village shall be for a term of four years commencing with the general election to be held on the first Tuesday in November, 2006. The term of the office of treasurer begins on November 20 in the year elected, after the treasurer's election and qualification.

    (d)

    Trustee. The office of trustee of the village shall be for a term of four years commencing with the general election to be held on the first Tuesday in November, 2006, provided that: For those trustees whose term of office is from 2003 to 2005, said term of office shall be extended to the general election to be held on the first Tuesday in November, 2006, and until the trustee's election and qualification for an initial term of two years, until the general election to be held on the first Tuesday in November, 2008. Commencing with the term of office for those trustees elected at the general election held on the first Tuesday in November, 2008, the term of office shall be four years. The term of office for the other three trustees whose terms expire in 2006 shall be four years commencing with the general election to be held on the first Tuesday in November, 2006. The term of the office of trustee begins on November 20 in the year elected, after the trustee's election and qualification.

    (e)

    Date and location of elections. All elections for the office of president, clerk, treasurer and trustee in the village shall be held on the first Tuesday in November in the year of the election, or such other time as may be established by law, at a location or locations to be determined by the board of trustees by resolution.

    (f)

    No primary. There shall not be a primary election held in the village for the office of president, clerk, treasurer or trustee unless required by law.

    (g)

    Non-partisan elections. The elections for the office of president, clerk, treasurer and trustee shall be non-partisan unless otherwise provided by law.
